The Fourth Warsaw International Seminar on Soft Computing, WISSC-4'04 is organized in memory of Professor Stefan Chanas on the second anniversary of his death (he died on 4th November 2002). That is why the Seminar is organized jointly by the Systems Research Institute and the Wroclaw University of Technology.
Topics:
This Seminar, as previous seminars in the series, will be focused on: foundational and applicational issues of broadly perceived soft computing, including but not limited to, fuzzy sets, rough sets, evolutionary computations, neural networks, probabilistic reasoning, etc., and applications in the areas exemplified by: operation research, decision making and support, control, data analysis, data mining, signal processing, management, financial engineering, etc.

Presentations:
The Seminar will consist of plenary and special talks by leading experts in the field, and of shorter technical contributions.

Proceedings:
The accepted papers will be published in a special post conference volume (EXIT Publishing House, Warsaw) and sent to the seminar participants.
A collection of papers presented at the past Workshops, completed with many papers by leading experts in the field, have been published recently in two following volumes:
Soft Computing - Foundations and Theoretical Aspects, K.T. Atanassov, O. Hryniewicz, J. Kacprzyk (Eds.), Exit, Warsaw 2004.
Soft Computing - Tools, Techniques and applications , P. Grzegorzewski, M. Krawczak, S. Zadrożny (Eds.), Exit, Warsaw 2004.

easily accessible by direct street cars and busses from the center of Warsaw including the central railway and bus stations. The Seminar is scheduled to start at c.a. 10:30-11:00 a.m. and to finish at c.a. 6-7 p.m.

Registration:
To help us to plan the seminar will you please respond as soon as possible to Ms. Edyta Mrowka wissc@ibspan.waw.pl with an expression of intent to participate by himself or herself and also by his or her collaborators. Please, submit us as much information as possible (number of participants with names, e-mails, addresses and tentative titles of papers). Participants who are interested in presenting a technical contribution should also send its title and a short abstract of the talk (no longer than half page) by October 15th, 2004 at the latest.

Registration fee:
Registration fee is 80 PLN and includes: lunch, soft drinks during the breaks and proceedings. The fee is to be paid in cash during the Seminar.
